Hello there. I have been a professional silk painter for 17 years. I use the traditional gutta resist method of painting, where the design is outlined on the silk before the paint is applied.
The vibrant colours are what first attracted me to silk painting. Silk is such a luxurious material to work with and I was completely hooked when I saw the wonderful translucent effect of the colours, which seemed to glow on the silk.
My subject matter includes flowers, landscapes and the popular 'Big Bird' series, which were inspired by British seaside holidays. I also enjoy experimenting with dyeing silk scarves.
Because I am so passionate about silk painting, I love to pass on my enthusiasm to others. I run frequent workshops for a maximum of six people at my studio in Buxton and I can offer tailored workshops for larger groups on location.
